Imprint of everyday life in the 1990s and 2000s: Individual and collective traumas, cultural experiences, and the socio-political landscape.
The program is based on studies of Georgian documentary cinema from the 1990s to the 2000s. It brings together films that portray stories of emigration, war, women’s voices, and forgotten stories of both familiar and unfamiliar faces.
What stories are waiting to be discovered in the recent past of Georgian documentary cinema - stories that might also serve as a window for observing the present?
The program is based on research by Lika Glurjidze and Luka Bedoshvili, which can be viewed here.
Note: This is a slightly revised program that was originally scheduled for screening last November, but was postponed due to the intense political events unfolding in Georgia.

The Endings portrays the everyday and ritual life of the remote Racha villages of Ghebi and Chiora during winter. In this film, where almost no words are spoken, action and movement take center stage, accompanied by traditional instrumental music.
These forgotten, half-abandoned villages, inhabited mostly by the elderly, continue to be nourished by old customs and ways of life. Through a multifaceted lens, the directors meticulously capture the hardships of living in this environment.
