What does the workshop include?


The workshop offers you the opportunity to discover the art of documentary filmmaking through the medium of French.


Through creative assignments in French, film analysis, and collaborative activities, participants will acquire the skills necessary to tell a story audiovisually: recording and conducting interviews, filming a scene, and discovering an individual vision.


Participants will also learn about French-language documentary film as an art form and discuss individual films.


This will be a common space for participants to develop their creative vision and improve their French language skills.

  • Anyone with at least a basic level of French

  • Anyone who wants to practice French, create content in French

  • Anyone interested in cinematography

  • Anyone who wants to acquire or improve visual storytelling skills

  • Minimum age of participants: 16 years

  • No prior experience in film/video production is necessary.

Elene Mikaberidze was born in Georgia in 1988, but has spent most of her life in Brussels, Belgium. French is her native language. Elene studied politics in Brussels and received her master's degree in East European and Caucasus Studies with a thesis on "Representation of War and Narratives of Identity in Contemporary Georgian Cinema". She has also completed courses in film studies and has worked in various fields of cinematography.


Elene is a graduate of EurasiaDoc, EAVE and other professional platforms and the coordinator of the Film Mosaic workshop. Her documentary film “Blueberries” premiered at the Copenhagen Film Festival CPH:DOX in 2024.


Elene returned to Georgia in 2016 and began learning the Georgian language. In addition to working in film, she is also a French teacher.
