About Nordic Film Market
Nordic Film Market is the world-leading marketplace for Nordic films and a key meeting point for the international industry. With 600+ accredited buyers, sales agents, programmers, and producers, the market offers a prime opportunity to showcase new projects and connect with international partners, as well as to engage with prominent Nordic talents and producers.
While the market mostly focuses on Nordic film, with 60 new Nordic prominent titles presented as works in progress, projects in development, and a curated selection of market screenings, since 2025, the Nordic Gateway segment connects standout international projects with Nordic partners.
What the Call is About
Göteborg Film Festival invites two Georgian feature doc film projects in all stages of production and offers them a spotlight at the Nordic Film Market during January 28-30, 2026. The Market will be a possibility for directors and producers of the selected projects to connect with co-production, financing, distribution, sales agents and festival programmers from all over the world.
The selected applicants will be offered the following:
3 nights of hotel accommodation in Göteborg
Return flight ticket for max. 2 members of the film team (director, producer)
Nordic Film Market accreditation, granting access to the market and Göteborg Film Festival
Participation in a session discussing Georgian film, including the presentation of projects
One-on-one meetings with key market delegates. Presentation of the project online and in the market catalogue
Networking and social events
Who Can Apply
Applications must meet the following criteria:
The Project must be of creative feature documentary in late development or production.
The filmmaker must hold Georgian citizenship or residency
The film must be set in Georgia or explore a Georgian subject
Project suitable for international co-production and circulation
Minimum one confirmed source of financing, e.g. development grant
The project has not been pitched at any other Nordic industry event or market
Selection & Evaluation
An international selection committee appointed by Göteborg Film Festival and DOCA Georgia will evaluate projects, guided (but not bound to) the following criteria:
Strong international potential
Artistic vision and creative filmmaking approach
Strong subject with unique access
Financial feasibility and production plan
Priority is given to projects with Nordic potential (Nordic creative, producer, subject, etc.)
Priority is given to projects selected through the call: Supporting the Georgian film industry through the acquisition of distribution rights

Project logline, synopsis, treatment, and director’s statement
Production timeline and producing strategy
Financing plan
Biographies of the creative team
Rough cut or example of edited scenes

About Göteborg Film Festival
The Göteborg Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Nordic region. The festival spans ten days at the turn of January and February each year. Around 250 films from 80 countries are screened during the festival attracting approximately 270,000 visits. Additionally Göteborg Film Festival and its Nordic Film Market and TV Drama Vision Conference serves as the leading market for films and series in the Nordics, annually attracting over 2,200 industry delegates and journalists from more than 50 countries. The festival annually presents the Nostradamus report that foresights the near future of the audiovisual sector. Göteborg Film Fund is another initiative aiming to strengthen the film industry in countries or regions with an interesting cinema on a high artistic level, but with different challenges.
