In support of the Georgian film industry, Göteborg Film Festival and the streaming platform Draken Film, in collaboration with DOCA Georgia, are launching a call to acquire screening rights of Georgian documentaries at various stages of development, production, or post-production.
A total of 2-4 films will be selected, with a combined acquisition amount of 200 000 SEK. The amount allocated to each project will depend on the project’s stage and evaluation of the selection committee.
Acquiring screenings rights include:
Screening rights at Göteborg Film Festival, with the privilege of a Swedish premiere
Non-exclusive streaming rights for a period of 5 years on streaming platform Draken Film within the territory of Sweden
Distribution rights at DOCA Film Club by DOCA Georgia
Applications must meet the following criteria:
The Project must be a creative documentary (feature or mid-length)
The filmmaker must hold Georgian citizenship or residency
The film must be set in Georgia or explore a Georgian subject
Stage of the Project:
Eligible projects may be in development, production, or post-production.
Applications must have a coherent written proposal, visual material and a production strategy.
An international selection committee appointed by Göteborg Film Festival and DOCA Georgia will evaluate projects, guided (but not bound to) the following criteria:
Artistic vision and creative filmmaking approach
Strong subject with unique access
Financial feasibility and production plan
International potential and cultural relevance
Conditions
Credit Göteborg Film Fund and DOCA Georgia in all final versions of the film
Deliver progress and/or final reports
The allocated amount may be disbursed in stages
